April 8 & 9, 2025 – Online Teaching for Biliteracy in Secondary Institute – Middle and High School
This two-day institute is focused on new and existing dual language and biliteracy programs at the secondary level, and includes:
- Defining Dual Language and Biliteracy
- Elements of Dual Language Instruction at the Secondary Level
- Sample Dual Language Instruction in Secondary
- The Bridge between Languages
- Dual Language Student Profiles
- Advocacy
April 10 & 11, 2025 – Online Teaching for Biliteracy Institute – SOLD OUT
This two-day institute includes both synchronous (live) and asynchronous (pre-recorded) elements. The institute will feature:
- Overview of the strategic use of Spanish (or other non-English language) and English in teaching for biliteracy in transitional bilingual programs, dual language programs, and one-way and two-way immersion programs
- Best practices in teaching Spanish (or other non-English language) and English literacy
- Strategies that support the Bridge between languages
- Biliteracy unit framework for developing and delivering standards-based biliteracy units of instruction that integrate the teaching of language and content
- Biliteracy schedules, language and content allocation plans, biliteracy curriculum maps, and other programmatic structures to support biliteracy instruction
April 23 & 24, 2025 – Online Teaching for Biliteracy Institute – SOLD OUT

The Teaching for Biliteracy Summer Institute brings together district and school-level teams of educators to engage in a deep dive into the instructional, programmatic, and curricular elements of teaching for biliteracy and the Bridge. This robust, multi-day institute will include large-group networking experiences and small-group sessions focused on specific biliteracy topics.
The institute will feature:
· Examples of the strategic use of Spanish (or other non-English language) and English in teaching for biliteracy in dual language one- and two-way programs.
· Best practices in teaching Spanish (or other non-English language) and English literacy.
· Sample biliteracy instruction and strategies that support the Bridge between languages.
· Biliteracy unit framework for developing and delivering standards-based biliteracy units of instruction that integrate the teaching of language, literacy, and content.
· Biliteracy schedules, language and content allocation plans, biliteracy curriculum maps, and other programmatic systems and structures to support biliteracy instruction.
